The Royal Family have shared a beautiful photo of Queen Elizabeth II after they attended the private burial service at Windsor Castle.

The picture shows the Her Majesty in her beloved Scottish estate in 1971.  In the photo, the Queen is wearing a green sweater and a head scarf and is surrounded by a stunning landscape.

Alongside the image, the caption was quoted from William Shakespeare's Hamlet

It read: ‘May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.’

In loving memory of Her Majesty The Queen.

 1926 - 2022.

He said, "To my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you.

"Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years.

"May 'flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest'."

The late monarch was buried with her beloved husband Prince Philip in the Royal Vault at Windsor Castle. It is also the same place where her father King George VI,  the Queen Mother, and her younger sister Princess Margaret also lay.

When Prince Philip passed away last year, his coffin was placed in the Royal Vault ready to be moved to Windsor Castle when the Queen passed away.
