'Who you gonna call?': Bill Murray & Slimer return for new 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' movie

The original Ghostbusters will join the new generation to save the world.

The new ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ trailer has dropped and with some strange things lurking in the neighbourhood they had to call in some familiar faces.

Bill Murray and his original crew of Ghostbusters - Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts - are returning to the screen to the screen along with “the mean green ghost”, Slimer.

The opening to the trailer shows nostalgic clips of the first film while, Walter Peck says: “I’ve been waiting 40 years for this. They call themselves ‘Ghostbusters’. According to these hacks, they save the world.”

According to Variety, this time around, New York City gets covered in ice after an ancient artifact unleashes an evil frozen force on the ‘Big Apple’.

The new generation of Ghostbusters – Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), Callie Spengler (Carrie Coon), Trevor Spengler (Finn Wolfhard), and Phoebe Spengler (McKenna Grace) are in threat of being shut down by Peck, so in the challenge of saving the world, they might need a little help along the way.

Of course, Callie, Trevor and Phoebe are descendants of the original Ghostbuster Egon Spengler. So who better to call than their father/grandfather's original crew?

The new and old Ghostbusters appear to band together to save the city from freezing over.

And it’s not just the 'Busters themselves that have used the bloodline to connect to the 1984 film.

The new movie was written by Jason Reitman, whose dad, Ivan, directed the original two “Ghostbusters” films.

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ is set to hit NZ cinemas on March 28th.
