Duran Duran performs 'Ordinary World' at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games

A special performance for the band to perform in the city where they first formed!

Duran Duran closed the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2022 with a grand performance of 'Ordinary World'.

We asked you on our Facebook what song you think they'd play at the opening ceremony and a few of you correctly guessed 'Ordinary World' and 'Save a Prayer'.

"Maybe not appropriate  but my favorites Ordinary World & Come Undone would be amazing "

"Ordinary world"

"Ordinary world, reflex"

"Save a prayer...."

It was indeed a very special performance for Duran Duran as they performed in the city where the band was first formed, back in 1978.

Simon Le Bon stated he felt "honoured" to play the homecoming gig.

"The Games is a momentous event for the great city of Birmingham" Simon said.

The iconic 80s band dressed up in their beautiful bright coloured blazers, suits and jackets. Their performance on 'Ordinary World' brought nostalgia and got many people's "inner child" excited and happy.

All the best to our New Zealand athletes representing our country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games .
