Billy Joel wows with father-daughter duet before serenading his 'Uptown Girl' ex-wife

A truly heartwarming moment with Christie Brinkley.

Billy Joel's recent show at Madison Square Garden became a whole family affair with a father-daughter singalong and a tribute to his ex-wife.

Last week, Joel graced 'The World's Most Famous Arena' for the 147th time - part of his ongoing residency - but this performance was extra special as his daughter Alexa Ray Joel, joined the legend on stage for a heartwarming duet.

The surprise duo performance included renditions of  ‘To Sir, With Love’ from 1967 and ‘Say Goodbye To Hollywood’ from Joel's album 1976 ‘Turnstiles’.

People loved the father-daughter performance, with one fan writing: “She nailed it! Everyone's favourite song back in the day, when the world was kind. Girl, you're going places, just beautiful.”

“It's great that he made an impact on her and she celebrated it. That had to be a very proud moment for Billy Joel,” said another.

A third added: “Beautiful vocals, exactly like her father.”

During the show, Joel also took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he serenaded his ex-wife Christie Brinkley with his 1983 hit ‘Uptown Girl’.

Footage of the performance shows Brinkley dancing along with a smile beaming from ear to ear.

As reported by Stereogum, the song was originally inspired by Joel’s relationship with supermodel Elle Macpherson, but later became a tribute to Brinkley, who starred as the lead in the song's music video.

In 2010, Joel revealed to Howard Stern that he renamed the song ‘Uptown Girl’ specifically for Brinkley from its original title ‘Uptown Girls’ after he stopped dating Macpherson.

“Rather than it be about all these different girls, she became the Uptown Girl. I started writing it about one person,” he said.

These moments are truly beautiful to watch as Joel continues to wow his crowds.
