New Zealand feijoas are selling for ridiculous prices at a US wholesaler - can we get onboard?

And we've been giving them out for free...

Feijoas are one of our most loved Kiwi fruits. Sometimes, we grow so many of them that we start offering them out for free on the street.

However, there's one food wholesaler, Marx Foods, who would be eager to snatch them up because they're charging hundreds of US dollars for the fruit.

Marx Foods is a New Jersey and Seattle-based online food company that supplies specialty ingredients for home cooks and high-end restaurants.

They’re selling their NZ Feijoas for an outrageous $219 USD ($369 NZD), and that’s just for 30 - 39 pieces of the fruit.

The exorbitant price has shocked Kiwis on Reddit, with many claiming they have thousands of dollars worth of fruit just sitting in their backyard.

“Didn't realise I had $1,000 USD just laying in my backyard,” the poster wrote alongside an image from the website.

“If that’s the case I got $2-3 million going rotten in my paddocks,” said another.

While a third added: “I've shovelled maybe 300-400 out of our backyard into buckets in the last month. Can I get a mortgage now?”

We can’t even imagine the price this conjoined Feijoa would go for.

Commenters on the post are stunned at the “feijoaception”, with one suggesting listing it on Trademe.

One user wrote: “What does it meeeeannn???”

“Trademe love putting Kiwiana things like this in their 'Cool Auction' section and you might get a few notes for it,” said another.

While a third added: “Twice the juicy taste... drool.”

Right, it's time to rally the whole family to set up a stall.
