World-famous Hobbiton is now open to guests with Airbnb opening a listing offering some overnight stays in the Hobbit Holes.
If you’ve ever wanted to live like Bilbo Baggins in the scenery that made Peter Jackson, and then the world, fall in love with the area then now’s your chance.

Three individual two-night overnight stays will be up for grabs, and those lucky enough to nab themselves a spot can bring up to three friends. All for just $10 a night.
Property owner Russel Alexander says he’s loved having people visit the famous Shire, but he is super excited to have people stay the night and have the full Hobbit experience.
“For more than two decades, we’ve welcomed millions of passionate fans to Hobbiton Movie set, but never before has anyone had the opportunity to spend a night in Middle-earth,” he said in a press release.
“I am delighted to share the beauty of my family’s farm and pleased to be hosting this iconic location on Airbnb for fans from around the world.”

As well as staying in the fully furnished Hobbit Hole, guests will also get a full private behind-the-scenes tour of the movie set and a big dinner in The Green Dragon Inn “featuring beef and ale stew, whole roast chickens, freshly baked breads and plenty of ale.”
When I first saw this I was expecting a stinky old hole to stay in, but honestly being a hobbit sounds damn good! There are, however, some rules Russel and Airbnb have laid down:
- “No unexpected parties, unless with Gandalf and company.”
- “Magical rings are permitted, but keep them secret, keep them safe”
- “Straying far at night is discouraged, thanks to multiple troll sightings of late”

If you want a chance to live like a Baggins, you can request a booking at airbnb.com/hobbiton starting 10 am on December 14th. The stays will take place on March 2 - 4, March 9 - 11, and March 16 - 18.
