So this is actually a real thing…  and it happened over the weekend in California, USA. Also, it’s been going every year for 30 years!

We’re not exactly sure how we feel about this, but we do love dogs (and some of these outfits are great!)

So without further-a-do… the winner of the 30th annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest is 9-year-old Zsa Zsa!

Zsa Zsa is an English bulldog with an underbite and muscular rounded front legs. Zsa Zsa was found by owner Megan Brainard of Minnesota via a pet-finding website.

Zsa Zsa’s owner took home a cool $US1500 for the victory.

The competition is put on every year to help organisers publicise that many pets are available for adoption.

Check out the other dogs who vyed for the title over the weekend…

“It’s a fun and silly way to advocate that all animals deserve a safe and loving home,” said Christy Gentry, a spokeswoman for the event.
