Family of owls takes up residence outside LA office building

A Los Angeles office has spent the last few weeks with three spectators, after a trio of owls hatched outside.

The owls started their life on a ledge of one of the buildings at UCLA's Luskin campus and eventually grew to full size. Now they spend their time staring at the workers inside the building.

Professor Michael Lens brought the owlets' existence to the world's attention, mentioning them in a tweet that quickly went viral.

"Owls were born on my colleague's windowsill a few weeks ago and I. Just. Can't. Even," he wrote.

Evidently the rest of the internet "couldn't even" either, as the tweet was "liked" more than 180,000 times and retweeted more than 40,000 times.

Repliers were quick to express joy at the owlets' presence and make jokes about the owls' characteristic hooting sound.

"Their little super interested faces would make me laugh daily if I had to see them. But also happy. It's adorable," one person wrote.

"I don't blame you. Whoo could work under such conditions?" another said.

One astute commenter even suggested the owls may have a purpose on the ledge, referring to their role as a messenger service in the Harry Potter films.

Did someone in your office recently turn 11? #HogwartsLetter," they said.
