Coconut Prawns with Lime Aioli

If like me at the start of our level 4 this year, you saw prawns in the supermarket and got excited and put them in the home freezer. I discovered them on the weekend so gave this a whirl. Very tasty and it was a sunny day so was nice to have something a bit summery with a salad. Reckon these would go well on the BBQ.

The Prawns:

  • Prawns (uncooked) peeled with their tails intact 
  • 1/4 cup plain flour 
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup thread Coconut
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs 
  • Oil for shallow frying 

Lime Aioli:

  • 1/4 cup good mayonnaise 
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • 1/2 tsp lime zest
  • Juice of a lime


  1. Put flour in a bowl and beaten egg in another with the panko and coconut mixed on a plate 
  2. Add the prawns to the flour and then dip in egg and coat in the coconut and panko mix. Put on a plate ready to go 
  3. Heat the oil in frying pan . Cook prawns about 2 mins each side until golden 
  4. Put all Aioli ingredients in a bowl and mix
  5. You are ready to serve ! Enjoy
