Fool proof chocolate lava cake

The perfect dessert to impress on Valentines day!

  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 100g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 Cup Caster Sugar
  • 3 tbsp self-raising flour


Preheat the oven to 180°C. 

Melt the dark chocolate and butter

In a large bowl,  beat the eggs and Caster Sugar until the mixture turns pale and frothy.

Pour the melted chocolate into the egg mixture. Stir in the flour using a spatula to mix everything evenly.

Fill the ramekins and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes. The cake is deliberately under-cooked to achieve the runny, lava centre, but if overcooked makes a delicious cake anyway.
