Perfect for this time of year (and in season!), Ali makes a tasty treat - Tamarillo Tart.
For the pastry:
- 200gms of plain flour
- 1/4 cup icing sugar
- 50gms of cream cheese
- 100gms of butter diced into pieces
- 1 egg yolk
- 2tsp of water
I do miss my kitchen whizz. Use the dough blade or if you’re keen do it by hand - the flour, icing sugar, cream cheese & butter.
Whizz to fine crumbs, add water and egg to form a soft dough.
Roll into a thin circle on your baking paper.
Put on a tray and put in the fridge while you make the filling.
The Filling:
- About 8 tamarillos peeled and sliced or diced
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp of Lemon Juice
- 2 Tbsp Arrowroot
- 1 egg and extra sugar .. plain ? Raw ? Coconut sugar ? You choose.
Putt filling ingredients in s bowl to mix. Place in the centre of your pastry making sure to leave a border. Fold the patstry border over the filling leaving the centre filling exposed
Beat and egg and brush the pastry with it and sprinkle the extra sugar on top.
Bake about half an hour on 180c
Sooooo good warm with ice cream!
