Ali's Parmesan Stars for Matariki

Ali whips up a tasty and cute little treat to add to the cheeseboard platter - just in time for celebrating Matariki!

These are so easy to make, check out the video above.

  • 100gms of parmesan, finely grated (or a similar grated hard cheese ) 
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  1. Preheat the oven to 220C line two large baking trays with baking paper and grease them with butter.

  2. Toss the cheese and seeds together in a small bowl. Sit a ​cookie cutter of your desired shape on the paper and sprinkle some cheese mix into it. pop a wooden stick on top and ​cover with a bith more of the cheese mix

  3. Repeat with the remaining cheese and sticks leaving about 3cm spaces between them to allow for any spreading during cooking

  4. Bake in the oven for five minutes. The cheese should be lightly golden-brown and bubbling.

  5. Remove from the oven, leave to cool for 1–2 minutes, until they become crisp. 

    C​arefully remove & I like to serve in a jar in the middle of a platter or cheese board! ​
