The Keto diet is taking over, here's a rundown of everything you need to know about this trending diet. The Ketogenic diet focuses on eating moderate amounts of protein and low carb so that ketones are produced in your body, hence the name. Consuming high amounts of carbs makes the body produce glucose as the primary source of your bodies energy. So fats that are in your body are stored, therefore by lowering your carbs your body completes the process of Ketosis. If you're confused, basically ketosis is the body's way of survival in a time of low carbs. Rather than your usual diets of cutting calories, the Keto diet removes carbohydrates. It is a very successful diet for weight loss and maintaining weight as you are burning fat without cutting out those calories!

Oddly enough Keto has been around longer than you would have thought. It came about in the 1920's as a way to treat children who have epilepsy. However, this didn't last long as the market found a medicine that cured epilepsy.

People find there are many positives to the Keto diet. One of which is it has clear guidelines which make it easy to know which foods to cut. Making meal prep and dinner ideas easy! It has also been praised for the success of weight loss for people that have tried this already.

However it isn't all great, some negatives of the Keto diet can be seen within the first couple of weeks. People who become Keto experiences cramps, heart palpitations and loss of energy when they begin the diet. 

To know confidently whether this diet is the best new thing is difficult. There is a huge debate between lovers and haters. The benefits of weight loss are of course exciting. However, if you are one of the people that experience the nasty side effects, this may not be the best option for you.
