Here's how you can watch Grease: Rise of Pink Ladies in New Zealand

This musical series is a prequel to the 'Grease' movie

Good news for anyone who was hoping for 'Grease: Rise of Pink Ladies' series to be released on NZ television.

The show's first episode is airing on Thursday, April 6th on TV 2 from 9.50 pm until 11.00 pm.

It will also be played on TV 2+1, an hour later at 10.50 pm. The episode will also be available on TVNZ+.

This musical series is a prequel to the original movie 'Grease' released in 1978 starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John.

Based on the trailer, the high school looks the same as in the movie.

As mentioned by Paramount, this musical series takes place in 1954 which is four years before the original 'Grease', where the movie was based in the summer of 1958.

" A group of fed-up outcasts, played by Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso and Tricia Fukuhara, dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever, " Paramount writes on their trailer description.

Talking about the show, Ari Notartomaso who plays Cynthia in the movie said, "A love letter to the women of Grease and a love letter to the people who were not given screen time in the original Grease or in the media in general."

Marisa Davila also talked about how the characters of the series although based in 1954, face a similar situation that people in the present day might still do.

"The characters run into a lot of the same situations that people in the present day might be dealing with," Marisa told.
