Irwin family honours late Steve Irwin with new 'Crocodile Hunter' lodge at Aussie zoo

Crikey! This looks so good!

The Irwin family honoured the late great Steve Irwin by opening ‘The Crocodile Hunter Lodge’ near the family-owned ‘Australia Zoo’.

The lodge is beautiful and seems like it would be an incredible place to stay, located just five minutes from the zoo. It has a 25-metre-long pool, eight rustic cabins, a bar and restaurant, and is home to koalas, red kangaroos, echidna, and emus.

Terri Irwin, Steve’s widow, said in a press release that the lodge is a realisation of a long-time dream of Steve’s.

People staying at the luxurious spot will have a free pass to the zoo as well as the opportunity to visit the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

There are plenty of tributes to Steve, nicknamed ‘The Crocodile Hunter’, throughout the lodge. There are family photos framed and hung up around the facilities and the bar/restaurant was named ‘The Warrior’ by Steve’s daughter Bindi.

The general manager of the lodge, Luke Reavley, said: “Bindi chose the perfect name for the restaurant, Warrior, paying tribute to Steve who coined the phrase.”

Bindi said that the lodge is a “beautiful way” to honour her father’s “legacy and everything he stood for.”
