HBO releases trailer for 'The Princess', an "intimate and immersive" documentary on Princess Diana

"The Princess" will premiere on August 13.

HBO has released the official trailer for their original documentary, The Princess. It is an "intimate and immersive look" at Princess Di's life.

"The Princess examines the overwhelming adoration and intense scrutiny she faced by the media and the public as a member of the royal family" HBO wrote in the description.

The documentary tells her life's story using archival footage of interviews and videos.

"The film unfolds as if it were in the present, allowing viewers to experience the overwhelming adoration, but also intense scrutiny of Diana’s every move and the constant judgement of her character" HBO wrote.

There have been many Diana documentaries over the years but Rollingstone has described "The Princess" as 'The definitive Princess Diana Documentary'.

The documentary is directed by Ed Perkins and produced by Jonathan Chinn.

Princess Diana’s tragic death, caused in part by a high-speed pursuit by paparazzi, was a moment for reflection by both the public and the media machine it feeds. However, after nearly 25 years since Princess Diana's death, has anything really changed?"  the press release reads.

On 31st August it will be 25 years since Princess Diana tragically passed away.

"The film debuts on Saturday August 13 on HBO, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death, and will be available to stream on HBO Max".
