New Zealand's Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield has announced he is resigning in July. His decision in stepping away has been mainly because he wants to spend time with his family.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern shared a post to thank Dr Ashley Bloomfield and also to pay tribute to his great work.
"In every sense of the word-through tireless dedication, his focus on people, his calm and considered approach- he has been a true public servant" Prime Minister wrote.
"He has been central to our COVID success as a nation, and he's done it with humour and grace (I'll keep the details of is sporadic mockery of me to myself!)
"So Kia ora from across the Moutu, Dr Bloomfield. We thank you."
