Unfortunately on Thursday afternoon, a massive fire broke out at Dalton Mills, the disused West Yorkshire factory that is used as a set for 'Downton Abbey' and 'Peaky Blinders'.

Dalton Mills is a prime shooting location listed on the Screen Yorkshire website and has been building a strong reputation as a filming location.

The fire and rescue service confirmed this incident and said, "We currently have fire engines & specialist units in attendance at a fire at Dalton Mills, Keighley. There is a lot of smoke in the area & residents are advised to keep doors/windows closed. Please avoid traveling through the area"

Richard Knight,  executive of Screen Yorkshire described this fire incident as a 'sad loss to the Yorkshire film-making landscape'. He told the BBC, "It’s one of those amazing locations that is like a destination in its own right".

"It’s got the kind of provenance and scale that could attract film-makers from far and wide.”

Along with being sets for 'Peaky Blinders' and 'Downton Abbey', this set was also used for the 2016 film, 'The Limehouse Golem' starring Bill Nighy.

Television cameraman Malkin Walton uploaded the image of the building on fire on Twitter.
