Sir Cliff Richard will be 'stopping' his music career by taking a break, but admitted that he will never retire as the word is not in his vocabulary.

The 81-year-old legend, said he enjoys being flexible and having the freedom of working whenever he chooses and would like to be less strict with his plans in the future.

“I don’t know if I ever want to retire. I don’t mind stopping,” he said to Mirror

“Stopping would mean that I could absolutely change my mind any time I wanted to, or phone my office and say, ‘Can you get us a couple of nights at the Royal Albert Hall?’”

“So, retiring is not in my vocabulary, but stopping is good for me – I can work whenever I want to, if I want to.”

Sir Cliff has recorded more than 50 studio and live albums throughout his career. For Sir Cliff, two of his most unexpected achievements are receiving the knighthood from the Queen and being the first artist to have a top-five album across eight decades in a row.
