Cambridge's give sweet nod to Prince Philip in Prince George's birthday portrait

To mark his eighth birthday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge published a gorgeous photo of Prince George, taken by the Duchess, to the world.

The image shows Prince George with a big grin plastered across his face, and kind eyes.

And while the sweet photo has been seen and loved by millions across the Commonwealth, eagle-eyed royal fans couldn't help but spot the subtle tribute to Prince George's late great grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh in the pictures.

In the photo, Prince George is perched a top a Land Rover Defender, one of Prince Philip's favourite vehicles.

Prince Philip used the Land Rover's in his funeral service, and was quoted saying to the Queen before his death, "Just stick me in the back of a Land Rover and drive me to Windsor," when asked about his funeral.

How lovely!
