What you should be sowing in your garden during June

Eco 04/06/2021

Winter is officially here! And just because it is Winter, doesn't mean you have to slow down in your garden.

June in the garden is an oppurtunity to plant fruit trees and winter veges for a continuous supply. It's also time to begin thinking about the next season and the crops you might want to grow and harvest.

In the vegetable garden, a highlight of June for sure is planting your garlic on the shortest day to prepare for harvest on the longest day in December. You can also plant winter staples like your brassicas, beetroots, leafy greens and herbs.

If you're looking to add some flowers to your garden, then brightly coloured polyanthus, primula, pansies and violas can be planted now.

Also, did you realise it's time to start thinking about planting your strawberries? Strawberry planting time is from June to November. Just remember to feed them every four weeks!
