It is with sadness we can confirm Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh has passed away aged 99.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the palace said in a statement on Friday.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle . The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

The husband of Queen Elizabeth II, and her loyal consort for 74 years, was admitted to King Edward VII's Hospital on February 17th. He was then transferred to monitor a heart condition at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.

It is believed his illness was not related to COVID-19 as both himself and The Queen had their vaccine earlier in the year.

The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen were married in 1947 and had four children together, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.

He has eight grand-children in including Prince William and Harry, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and the latest addition of Princess Eugenie's little boy who was named after him

It has been reported that Prince Phillip wants a smaller military funeral as he was a veteran of the Royal Navy. It will most likely be held at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Our thoughts go out to the Royal Family at this challenging time.
