Last week, Jon Bon Jovi released his official cover of The Pogues Christmas favourite 'Fairytale of New York'.
The cover went down like a cup of cold sick with fans of both The Pogues and Bon Jovi, with many saying that it is the worst cover ever.
Now, The Pogues who are the original singers of the song, have spoken out about his cover... and they absolutely hate it.
Responding to a tweet from musician Rob Smith which said the cover was ”the worst thing to ever happen music,” the band responded saying: ”What Rob said.”
In Bon Jovi's rendition, he sings both the male and female parts himself, and changes the controversial lyrics in the second verse to call someone a squirrel and suggests they aren’t great in bed.
The entire re-written second verse reads:
“You’re a bum, you’re a braggart/You’ve lost all your swagger,
And the word around town is you ain’t much in bed,
You’re a squirrel ‘cause you’re nuts, You’re a kick in the guts,
Happy Christmas my a*** I’ll be glad it’s our last!”
