Jennifer Grey says they won't be replacing Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing sequel

Must See 01/12/2020

Earlier on this year it was announced that the iconic 'Dirty Dancing' movie would be getting a sequel.

Jennifer Grey is set to return on screen and is also playing a big part in the making of the film.

A description for the original film reads, "while holidaying with her parents at a placid resort, Frances is smitten with the resort's rebellious dance instructor."

"Her father opposes their relationship which creates a rift between him and her."

In a recent interview with People, Grey opened up about making the sequel to the 1987 film without her co-star Patrick Swayze who passed in 2009.

"All I can say is there is no replacing anyone who’s passed—you never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that," she said in an interview. "You just go for something different."

She went on to explain why she thinks the movie has remained so popular over the decades...

"Its appeal was that it was very genuine and simple."

"It was about innocence and the way that innocence is lost and how people explode into a different iteration of themselves."

There is currently no release date for the sequel, but we can't wait to see it!
