Woman left in tears after builders find secret notes hidden in walls of her old home from 30 years ago

36-year-old Kimberley Colbeck was left in tears after builders found notes that were left within the walls of her old terraced Leeds home.

The adorable notes were written by Colbeck and her two brothers who were three, eight and thirteen at the time.

Colbeck spotted a discovery post that was shared on Facebook 30 years after the notes were hidden.

"I cried when I first saw the note. My older brother Andrew sadly passed away two years ago," she explained.

It was really emotional to see his writing.

It happened when Colbeck's late uncle was renovating the kitchen when the siblings decided to band together to squeeze note behind the wall tiles.

They wrote their names, ages and the date at the time.

Her brother Andrew's message read: "Today is it Valentine's Day. Yes. 14/2/89. My birthday is 29/4/75 so I am now 13. I am a scout in the 15th Airedale and I have a CB."

Colbeck said she spoke to her cousin about the discovery and that the house was very dear to them when they were much younger. The family had moved from the home since 2013.

"Hopefully I can show my dad, who actually placed the notes for us when we were kids. He is currently suffering from dementia," she said. "It would be nice to see if he recognises it."

"At the beginning of the lockdown my dad contracted coronavirus, we had a full week of end of life discussions."

She noted that her father had since pulled through and was discharged from the hospital.

"I'm so pleased I can get something from my childhood and I'm now thinking of creating a time capsule with my own daughter."
