Rami Malek has played the iconic Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Now someone close to the Bee Gees family wants him to star as Robin Gibb.

RJ Gibb, the 37-year-old son of late Bee Gees Robin Gibb, has been working with producers for a Bee Gees biopic and thinks Rami Malek would be perfect as his dad.

Telling The Mirror, RJ said: “When I saw him play Freddie, he reminded me of my father during the Bee Gees’ Massachusetts period [1967]."

"I have injected Rami’s name into conversations. Nothing is written in stone but I think that would be great."

RJ also confirmed that 'A Star Is Born' actor Bradley Cooper is a "candidate" to play his uncle Barry in the film.

"He has been approached and we’ll see.”

The upcoming film is said to follow the three brothers from their arrival from Australia to 1960s London, capturing their ups and downs in the music industry – including how they became legendary disco kings.

"If it were me, I would want everyone to get a full picture of everyone, not only the successes but the pitfalls," RJ said.
