What do you do when your daughter's birthday wish is to have McDonald's during the lockdown period?
You make Maccas happen, of course. That's what one father-of-four did for his 4-year-old daughter Maizie.
Nathan Lewis took seven hours to put the McDonald's Drive-Thru experience together the night before, staying up till 1.30am the night before to make the experience come to life for the birthday girl.
Utilising the family property's long driveway, Nathan set up three TV screens simulating the drive-thru experience, with pre-recorded videos of her dad in a fake McDonald's outfit, taking her order and paying via Eftpos.
Once the car had completed its order, Maizie's dad came out to deliver her a birthday Happy Meal, featuring chicken nuggets, chips and a strawberry shake in a themed Frozen box he printed on their home computer.
Nathan, who has three other kids aged 12, 9 and 5, told NZ Herald that lockdown has "been interesting times" for the family, and that Maizie was "so stoked" for her McDonald's experience.
"She was still asking for it the morning after. She didn't quite know what to make of it."
