Prince Charles and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall are in New Zealand on their royal tour.

Today saw the first of their many engagements while they are here, and the engagement saw the pair heading to Auckland's Mount Roskill War Memorial to recognise men from Niue who fought alongside Kiwis in World War I.

Prince Charles appeared overcome with emotion during the event, wiping away a tear as he stood next to a solemn Camilla.

Members of Auckland's Niue community sung a medley of traditional songs from the Pacific Island nation ahead of the royal's arrival.

Afterwards, they visited the Wesley Community Centre, where they were officially welcomed with a haka.
