One of our favourite movies from the '80s, 'The Goonies', may get its sequel 'someday' soon.
During a mini-reunion last week, the stars of the 1985 film, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan, responded to the rumours of a sequel coming true.
"Someday," Sean Astin told fans.
"That is the most asked question I've heard for the last 30 years," said Ke Huy Quan.
"The someday part, someday it'll happen," Sean added. "The audience wants it, they're gonna do it, it's annoying it's taking so long, I'm sorry on behalf of Steven Spielberg."
“Yeah, we’ll get it done tomorrow,” Corey Feldman joked. “I swear.”
“Someday. Someday it’ll happen,” Ke Huy Quan said more seriously.
Previously, Sean Astin and Corey Feldman had approached original 'Goonies' director Richard Donner with the ideas of a sequel but it had too many financial issues at the time to greenlight the project.
"Sean Astin and I actually wrote a pitch, a treatment of about 10 pages that we took into [director] Richard Donner and a representative of [screenwriter] Chris Columbus and Steven [Spielberg]. We pitched it and Donner loved it, but he said it was too expensive an idea."
Perhaps this may be the time The Goonies 2 finally becomes a reality!
