Mum holds 'job interviews' at home to get her children to help with housework

One mum has decided to try a new approach when it comes to teaching her kids about the value of money.

After a house fire ravenged through the family's house and money became a bit tight, the mum decided to create a 'hiring event' where her kids could apply for different jobs around the home to earn their keep.

The jobs included kitchen manager, lead housekeeper and laundry supervisor.

In a post on Facebook she explained the whole thing and has since gone viral, gaining over 200,000 likes and over 123K shares.

She wrote: "So, my children continue to ask for a new cell phone, an allowance, and to go places.

"Yesterday I told them that I've heard their requests and that I'll have a surprise for them today when they get home from school.

"SURPRISE!!! It's a whole hiring event! If you want it, work for it, earn it! And yes, I also have an in home credit union lol. #ThisMomMeansBusiness"

The mum even created application forms for the kids to fill out.

The applications asked them to list their experience, whether or not they were willing to work evenings and weekends, their desired salary and when they could start.

And as previously mentioned she set up a 'credit union', saying: "Good credit? Bad credit? Need to build credit? Let Mom start you off with a line of credit to help build your allowance as well as character!

"Making on time contributions around the house can pay off big time! Don't wait! Ask mom how today!"

The idea was a hit on social media, with many parents agreeing that this is one tactic they wanted to try out in their home!
