Rare albino panda found in the wild

Must See 28/05/2019

It might look more like a lost polar bear, but the first images ever of a giant albino panda in the wild have been published.

With only 2000 giant black and white pandas in the wild it is rare enough to see one of them, but reports say this is the first time an albino has been photographed.

The bear, which has white fur and red eyes, was photographed on an infrared camera in Sichuan's Wolong National Nature Reserve last month, the South China Morning Post reported.

The photo was released on Saturday.

The bear is thought to be only a few years old and in good health, despite albinism often causing poor eyesight and making animals vulnerable to predators.

The reserve is putting up more cameras to monitor the panda bear's progress.
