A tourist has captured a special performance from a group of seal pups at Wharariki Beach.
Eszter Dovak told Newshub the seals were playing in between the rocks at the South Island beach for more than two hours on Tuesday afternoon.
"I felt like they were doing it on purpose, like it was a show for the people!" she says.
Dovak filmed the scene on her GoPro camera.
"I stood for almost a few hours, just watching the pups playing around."
Dovak's GoPro footage shows the seals diving in and out of the water, and then spotting her camera.
One seal pup swims right up to the lens, at which point Dovak pulls it out of the water.
Dovak was amazed at how friendly and curious the pups were.
