College students sang a moving rendition of a Māori hymn after they were invited inside a Ponsonby mosque.

St Paul's College students were welcomed into the Al-Masjid Al-Jamie mosque in Ponsonby after they were rained out while paying their respects outside.

Bilal Slaimankhel from the mosque told RNZ he welcomed them inside so they would not have to sit in wet school uniforms.

"It was amazing to see, the boys come in and show their respect and their love to what has happened," he said.

The students sang Mo Maria, a Māori hymn which calls for people to show love.

The song is one of a number of tributes from around the country as New Zealanders show their support for those who lost loved ones in the terror attack on March 15.
