The Michael Jackson estate and Columbia Live Stage revealed more information about the exciting new musical inspired by the life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The previously confirmed production will be titled 'Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough', and is currently in development. Lynn Nottage, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, will create the book, and Christopher Weeldon, Tony Award winner, will direct and choreograph the production.
The premiere will take place in Chicago on the 29th October at the James M. Nederlander Theatre, and run through until the 1st December. 'Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough' will then make it's move to Broadway to debut in 2020.
“This is not a Cirque du Soleil show, nor a tribute show, nor a hagiography,” Nottage said of the show. "We are endeavoring to tell the story of one moment in the life of a very complicated man whose life was very fraught.”
Wheeldon commented: “We are all very clear that we don’t want this to be a concert or an impersonation show. We want it to be a portrait of the artist, a man of contradictions that contained so much beauty. A life like Michael’s was so rich, dense and troubled. But there were these moments of great lightness. We are interested in celebrating Michael, and in breaking down his songs and really listening to them.”
