Child TV star, Geoffrey Hayes, has died at 76

Geoffrey Hayes, who hosted everyone's favourite children's TV show Rainbow, has died aged 76.

The actor presented on the acclaimed show from 1973 to 1992, which screened in New Zealand. He has died in hospital from pneumonia, it was nice to hear, that his wife and son was by his side. 

The tragic news has been confirmed by his manager this morning. His fans have poured out love for Geoffrey, many just writing a simple 'thank you.'

Hayes co-stars were the gorgeous puppets, Zippy, George and Bungle. More than 100 episodes were filmed of rainbow across nearly 20 years!

During an interview in 2015, Geoffrey said how he would always be grateful for being recognised for the work he did on the show, and how much he adored working on it.

The family would like to express their thanks to the many fans over the years as it always gave Geoffrey so much pleasure to know that he and his Rainbow team had given so much fun to TV and theatre audiences over the years.
