An American couple has got married after a classic high school pact. Many people joke around with the idea of making a pact with someone, to get married to them if you're still single at a certain age. This couple is the living proof of this, and their story is adorable.
Kimberley Dean, 51, and Ron Palmer, 54, have been friends for 37 years, and have finally tied the knot. They went through high school together and dated for a period of time. They were the classic high school sweethearts until Ron broke it off, as he wanted some time to be single. However, they were such close friends that they stayed in close contact over the years.
Over the next few decades, the two stayed in touch and would be the first contact for each other during struggles in their lives. They would help each other in their relationship up's and down's, and it was during this time they jokingly made a pact that if they were still single at 50 they would get married.
It was a complete joke," Kimberley told the MailOnline. "We were both single at the time, and we were just both fed up with dating and all the craziness that goes with that.
Kimberly had already been married once, and during the divorce proceedings, Ron was by her side helping her.
When Ron was asked about the pact he said,
We started out as friends, we fell in love and we parted as friends, but we still cared for each other. I've always loved her because she's such an awesome friend.
And the day finally came, this year they turned 50 and eventually got married. It is so common to hear friends joke about that particular pact but is magical to see it happen in reality.
