With summer road trips well in the past, here's a look at some excellent destination for a winter weekend getaway. As the temperatures drop the want to start hibernating indoors kicks in. Instead of spending all your weekends inside, here are some of the countries best getaways to lighten up your winter weekends. 

1. Waiheke

For the Aucklanders, Waiheke is only a 30-minute ferry away. Waiheke is the home of some of the best vineyards. Stay warm inside and eat your way around this unique island!

2. Okoroire Hot Springs hotel

Okoroire Hot Springs hotel is the perfect winter getaway. This 1880's rustic hotel is fitted out with Pianos, books and warm fires. Alongside this, you could brave the cold, for a round on their golf course. If it's too cold the natural hot spring, there is always a safe bet.
