Why the Royal Family aren't allowed to sign autographs

Whenever any of the Royal family visit a country or attend a public event they often stop to talk to the public and pose for photos but one thing they never do is sign autographs.

When any of the Royals arrive at a venue they normally spend a bit of time waving at the assembled well-wishers, and posing for the photographers, before entering the venue.

But you will never see them signing an autograph for a fan.

According to the Express, none of the royals are allowed to sign anything, as “the long-standing rule remains in place for all royals because of the risk of the signature being forged.”

When asked to sign an autograph Charles reportedly says, “Sorry, they don’t allow me to do that.”

He did once break protocol in 2010, when he signed one for a victim of a flood, writing “Charles 2010” on a piece of paper.
