Last month we heard the sad news that John Farnham was diagnosed with mouth cancer. After undergoing an immediate long surgery of 11.5 hours, his wife has shared an update on his recovery.
John was kept in intensive care after his surgery and his wife Jil Farnham shared in a statement that the 73-year-old singer was moved from intensive care to the general ward some weeks ago.
A week after the surgery, his wife said "The cancerous tumour … has been successfully removed. There is still a long road of recovery and healing ahead of us, but we know John is up for that task.”
This week the singer was moved to a rehabilitation facility and Jill said it has been a "terrific progress".
“Each of these steps means things are moving in the right direction, and for that we are enormously thankful" she said.
“Our family is so very grateful to all the remarkable teams of Victorian medical professionals who have taken such good care of John,” Jill Farnham said.
“These outcomes are a credit to their dedication, skills and compassion".
“His medical team are very pleased with his progress over the past month.”
