Jon Bon Jovi has released his cover of The Pogue's famous Christmas song 'Fairytale Of New York'... and it has gone down like a cup of cold sick with a lot of his fans.

He performs the 1987 duet - originally sung by Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues' Shane MacGowan - all by himself, with apparent attempts at an Irish accent in some lines. He also replaced the most controversial line of the song with 'you’ve lost all your swagger'.

The song currently has more thumbs-down than thumbs-up votes on YouTube, with a flurry of negative comments bombarding the comment section of the song.

"More rotten than Shane's old smile.' wrote one.

"Sounds like a Leonard Cohen tribute act singing with a mouthful of marbles." said another.

"If 2020 was a Christmas song..." read another comment.

"You give Christmas songs a bad name." wrote another.
