Bono has written and performed a brand new song for the thousands of his countrymen and women currently in a coronavirus lockdown as a St Patrick's Day gift.

In a clip shared to U2's Facebook page, the frontman starts with a little message whilst playing the song's introductory chords on piano.

A little postcard from bubblin' Dublin on St Patrick's Day. A little tune, made up here about an hour ago. I think it's called "Let Your Love Be Known" - let me know what you think.

The live stream was captioned with,

For the Italians who inspired it....for the Irish...for ANYONE who this St. Patrick's Day is in a tight spot and still singing. For the doctors, nurses, carers on the front line, it's you we're singing to.

The Republic of Ireland is currently on a country-wide lockdown to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
