Queen guitarist Brian May has opened up about his battle with depression in a new Instagram post.
Brian revealed Christmas was hard for him, noting: "There’s something about this time of the year that paralyses me."
"I haven’t wanted to show my face because my face was grim." he continued.
"Depression, hopelessness, fear… I get engulfed. Is it logical?"
"Should I be grateful for my life and therefore NOT depressed ? Yes. But none of that makes any difference when you look up and the colours have gone out of the world." he wrote, noting that the public posting of his depression was a turning point for him getting back to a sort of 'normality'.
"Tomorrow I am wrenching myself back into ‘normality’ - starting with some biking and stretching and hot and cold showering."
We have to applaud Brian May for speaking up about his depression - it's not an easy thing to do. But the fact that he is speaking up about his internal battle means he may just have helped someone else out there.
All the best Brian, we love you!
