Elton John to perform a 'Princess Diana-style tribute' at close friend George Michael's funeral

Reports of Sir Elton John preparing to sing at friend George Michael’s funeral have surfaced.

It is thought the singer will pay tribute to Michaels’ by performing a touching version of their 1991 hit ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go down on Me’.

It is suggested that the artist’s performance will resemble that of the one he performed at Westminster Abbey for Princess Diana's funeral in 1997.

He sang a special version of ‘Candle in the wind’ which moved a nation.

"There will be so many mourners and friends. It will be the biggest funeral since George's mate Di's,” an insider close to the family has said.

"Elton will sing as he did for Diana's funeral as a final farewell."

George Michael passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 53 and close relatives and pals of his have been amazed by the "outpouring of love" from his community of fans.
