American man marries his own smartphone in Las Vegas

There's being obsessed with your phone, and then there's this.

Aaron Chervenak, 34, of Los Angeles married his smartphone in a Las Vegas chapel last month - to prove a point that 'in a sense' his longest relationship has been with his phone.

"If we're gonna be honest with ourselves, we connect with our phones on so many emotional levels,' Aaron says.

"We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our minds, and to me, that's also what a relationship is about."

"So in a sense my smartphone has been my longest relationship,' he added. 'That's why I decided to see what it was like to actually marry a phone."

While the wedding itself isn't legally recognised by the state of Nevada, he still happily carried his "wife" down the aisle.

"What I hope my wedding will do is to somehow act as a symbolic gesture to show how precious our phones are becoming in our daily lives, and hopefully get others to ask that same questions of themselves and their relationships with their phones."
