Heart repair could be assisted by four cups of coffee a day

Apparently now four cups of coffee a day may improve your heart health! New studies come out nearly daily, but this is one we want to be able to believe.

The facts behind this study show that four cups of coffee per day could protect as well as repair cardiovascular cells from damage. The new research has been published in PLOS Biology, the scientists that worked on this found that coffee consumption improves the cells of the arteries and veins and strengthen them.

The study also claims that this is most beneficial for seniors who struggle with the potential weakening of the arteries and veins.

The science behind this claims is that caffeine assists the movement of a protein in our body called p27 into the mitochondria which will ultimately lead to the protection of the heart muscle as well as the repair of cells like these being damaged.

The head of the study, Professor Judith Haendler says

Our results indicate a new mode of action for caffeine, one that promotes protection and repair of heart muscle through the action of mitochondrial p27
