Planting around entrance gateways installed at Palmerston North’s villages. The community is invited to bring along their gardening gloves and join children from local schools for the planting. Palmerston North City Council horticultural staff will be on hand to help and will mulch around the new plants.

SUICIDE AWARENESS EVENT
After the massive success of our first Suicide Awareness Cruise we are back for round 2 but this time will be bigger and better!! A cruise leaving from The Awapuni Racecourse carpark at 4pm, passing through Central City and ending at the Willow Park Tavern where we will have LIVE BANDS until 11pm ish fundraising for Key To Life Charitable Trust ( creators of I AM HOPE and gumboot friday)!! LIVE BANDS include Curlys Jewels, Midnight Switch, The Whiskey  Show and On The Ledge there'll be great entertainment for everyone!!

Please remember to decorate your cars in all things yellow, There will be a $5 charge to get into the LIVE BANDS part of the event, and will be donation buckets and fundraising activities throughout with 100% of proceeds going to Key To Life Charitable Trust!!

WAGON WHEELS COUNTRY MUSIC GROUP: COUNTRY MUSIC CONCERT

The Wagon Wheels Country Muisc Group presents a Country Music Concert. Featuring 10 local artists, including Gillian Bailey from Whanganui. Plus, there’ll be two artists from Manaia who both have the honour of being inducted into the U.S. Hall Of Fame. There’ll be supper and refreshments provided, so come along for a great night of country music!

TOKOMARU SCHOOL AG & GALA DAY
The annual Tokomaru School Ag & Gala Day is on again! There’ll be loads of things to see and do, from Nerf Gun Wars to an Army styled Obstacle Course, a Bouncy Castle and a Giant Slide, Henna Tattoos and Glitter Tattoos, a Dinosaur Dig, and of course - Mrs Kool will be there along with lots of other yummy treats. It’ll be a great day out for the family!

MANAWATU STRIDERS ASHHURST TO ESPLANADE
Join us this Sunday the 17th November, for the fifth year of the Manawatu Striders Ashhurst to Esplanade.
A fun and friendly run or walk along our beautiful Riverside walkway. 21kms from Asshurst to the Esplanade, 21kms starting from Te Matai Road or the family friendly 3km event.

Medals awarded for all 21m and 12km finishers and there’s free buses to the start line.

This is a new initiative run by the Massey Vet School in collaboration with the SPCA, which is run by veterinary students and veterinarians. Discounted cat desexing and microchipping for those who hold a community services card or a gold card. You can register for the service at masseyspcadesexing.org.

MARATHON IN A MONTH
This is the Marathon EVERYONE can complete! The goal is to complete the length of a marathon (42.2km) in a month. To complete this over the month of November you only need to walk or run 1.4km each day. A very easy goal to achieve.
All funds raised stay locally within our Manawatu communities.

AROHANUI HOSPICE & THE CHRISTMAS BARN FAMILY FUNDRAISER

Enjoy a festive night out for the whole family including music; carols; dancing and Santa. There will be reindeer rides for the kids and sausages and burgers to purchase.

Bring a blanket and enjoy the atmosphere. All proceeds from the night including 10% of sales will be donated to Arohanui Hospice from The Christmas Barn, to help provide care for patients who are living with a terminal illness.

ROSE & FLOWER SHOW
Hundreds of beautiful roses will be on display at the Rose & Flower Show hosted by Roses Manawatu this Sunday, at the Community Leisure CEntre! Local exhibitors will be showing off their best blooms across a range of classes including some with roses mixed with other garden flowers and foliage.
Entry is free and there will be raffles and a sales table including rose plants and refreshments available.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS FUNDRAISING GOLF DAY

This Friday is the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Fundraising Golf Day. Get together a 3 person team, and meet at 10.30am for an 11.00am start at Palmerston North Golf Club. There’ll be a fantastic prize table, a BBQ on course, raffles, and awards for the nearest pin and longest drive. It’s $90 per team of 3, or $180 to enter a team and sponsor a hole. HIMATANGI VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE’S ANNUAL FIREMAN’S FOOTBALL COMPETITION

This is the Annual Fundraiser for the Himatangi Beach Volunteer Fire brigade and there will be a Sausage Sizzle, Hot Chips, hamburgers and Drinks available on the day for sale.  

Teams consist of four members and there are three grades, kids, teens and Adults, depending on numbers of teams registered on the day, and in the adults grade there is a trophy to play for.  The idea of the game is to get the big swiss ball into the goal at the end of the pitch. It is a bit like Soccer but with a Swiss ball and Fire Hoses squirting water to move the ball. There are few rules so just all round fun.  This is always a fun day out for all ages and as you can see kids and adults alike can play so no one is left out.

FUNDRAISING FOR MANAWATU REUNITING REFUGEE FAMILIES TRUST

Manawatu Reuniting Refugee Families Trust have served refugee families in the Manawatu for over 3 years now.They’re aiming to raise $10,000 to raise money for one family to be reunited with their loved ones in the Manawatu, so they’re hosting a golf tournament fundraiser at Palmerston North Golf Club. There’ll be the tournament, goodie bags, food & drink, a silent auction, and a tonne of prizes to win.
