Royal family celebrate Kate's 40th birthday with three stunning portraits

The Duchess of Cambridge wowed the public with her beautiful smile and gorgeous outfits.

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, has celebrated her 40th birthday by releasing three stunning portrait photographs.

Taken by fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, the royal mum-of-three showed off three beautiful Alexander McQueen dresses, as well as earrings that previously belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Sharing the photos on social media, the Duchess thanked everyone for their "very kind birthday wishes" and the photographer for "these three special portraits".

The three portraits will be made available for public viewing in Berkshire, St Andrews, and Anglesey, as part of the National Portrait Gallery nationwide ‘Coming Home’ exhibition, ahead of the Gallery's reopening in 2023.

Each of the locations represents a part of Kate's history. Berkshire is the county of her childhood and where she was brought up. St Andrews is where she went to university and began her relationship with her husband. And Anglesey is where the couple lived together in the early part of their marriage.

Kate also received a number of birthday wishes from royal social media accounts, including Buckingham Palace, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
