Lilibet finally meets little Lilibet for the very first time

The meeting of the two Lilibets must have been a really special one!

Queen Elizabeth met her great-granddaughter Lilibet for the first time at Windsor Castle on Thursday (02.06.22).

The 96-year-old monarch met her 1 year old great-granddaughter - who is the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - at Windsor after the royals attended Trooping the Colour, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

Queen Elizabeth's childhood nickname was 'Lilibet'. When she was a toddler, she could not pronounce 'Elizabeth', so her grandfather King George V would affectionately call her 'Lilibet', imitating how she tried to pronounce her name.

Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose 'Lilibet' as their daughter's name in honour of her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth. Her middle name 'Diana' was also in honour of her late grandmother Princess Diana.

The duke and duchess - who also have a three-year-old son called Archie - have returned to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

"So nostalgic and wonderful to be reunited Harry, Meghan and their family in the UK. Archie has grown to be the cutest, well mannered little boy and Lilibet is just beautiful ❤️" George Northwood, Duchess of Sussex's hairdresser shared on Instagram.
