Eric Carmen, the founder of the 1970s band The Raspberries and the voice behind hits such as 'All By Myself' and 'Hungry Eyes', has passed away at the age of 74.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” wrote his wife, Amy Carmen, on the singer’s website.
“Our sweet, loving, and talented Eric passed away in his sleep over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy. Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.

Eric first rose to fame as the frontman of the pop-rock group The Raspberries, best known for hit songs “Go All the Way” and “I Wanna Be with You.”
He then pursued a solo career, making a name for himself with the songs 'All by Myself' and the 'Dirty Dancing' song 'Hungry Eyes'. His co-written song 'Almost Paradise' also featured in the iconic film 'Footloose'.
Fans paid tribute to his legacy online, crediting the work that defined films in the '80s.

No cause of death was given by the family. He is survived by his third wife, Amy, and his two children, Kathryn and Clayton.
