Sweet Tooth Treats

Who's Got A Sweet Tooth?

I would have to say that I would firmly fit into this category. I don’t over indulge, but sometimes just enjoying that little piece of sweetness with your coffee or your glass of wine, as you relax in front of your favourite TV programme, is all very comforting, or ending your meal with a lovely sweet dish is pretty satisfying.

I have discovered Wickedly Gourmet from West Auckland, who do the most divine Chocolate Logs. They have Grand Marnier, Rum & Raisin and Coffee Liqueur Chocolate logs and they just melt in your mouth. The liqueur is infused in the chocolate. Or you can enjoy Banana or Orange Pistachio Chocolate Logs. You couldn’t possibly consume the whole log in one go, so store in sealed container and enjoy a couple of slices each night. Or you can use them to design your own creation - grate a small amount over your yoghurt or ice-cream or cut into small chunks and mix through your softened ice-cream and add fresh berries, for an easy dessert.

Wickedly Gourmet have also put out a great little gift idea for the person you just want to say thanks to for Xmas – a pack of 4 Xmas Pud Chocolates. They look like Xmas puddings, but they are all chocolate.

Loaf have gone all out this Xmas also – they have their normal divine slices – Rocky Road, Gooey Caramel and Explosive Ginger. But for the occasion they have put out a pack of 4 of the yummiest Xmas Mince Pies, along with a very decadent White Christmas Slice – packed with goodies like sultanas, fruit jubes, cherries, coconut, rice bubbles and apricots. You would definitely need to enjoy this in small morsels.

And over summer if you’re into enjoying your yoghurt, ice-cream or whipped cream, it’s lovely to just drizzle over or swirl through the Peplers Wild Berry Sauce, or if you really want that extra kick there’s always the Peplers Orange Flavoured Chocolate Liqueur Sauce. Perhaps add some chopped marshmellows, some fresh berries and grapes and again you have an instant dessert that doesn’t take much to prepare.

And you can’t go past enjoying hot or cold, a good fruit pie for dessert. Oxford Pies have put out three great fruit pies – Rhubarb & Apple, Blackberry & Apple and for a sweeter pie – Boysenberry. You can heat these up, or they’re just as good cold with a dollop of cream. They only use the best fruit, coming from Barkers in Geraldine. These pies ooze fruit.

So enjoy a little sweetness this summer … and have an awesome day and know that someone who thinks you’re great has thought about you today!
